Our Story
Where did City Pastors come from?
A Business Improvement District (BID) is an area where businesses vote to invest together in projects that improve their environment. Our partnership with Birmingham's BIDs is at the heart of what we do.
2010
Christians from local churches seek to serve Birmingham. With Street Pastors' blessing, we shape something bespoke for the night-time economy.
Nov 2010
A trial begins with Westside BID, led by Mike Olley. We become a pastoral bridge between door staff, police and the public, supporting the Street Wardens.
25 May 2011
Official launch with Lord Mayor Anita Ward and Asst. Chief Supt. Pete Blackburn, alongside leaders of Birmingham City Church, Birmingham Vineyard and St. John's Harborne.
Dec 2012
Invited by Southside BID manager Julia Chance, our first teams begin in Southside — the Chinese Quarter, Gay Village and Hippodrome district.
Our teams wear distinctive black and white jackets — look out for us across the city.
